In 2015, over 600 primary care providers completed the Centre for Effective Practice’s (CEP) Needs Assessment Survey, which allowed us to identify family physicians’ and primary care nurse practitioners’ preferences for clinical tools and resources on potential topics. This past December, we launched a new Needs Assessment Survey to help inform topics developed for 2018/2019.
Beginning this year, the CEP will develop and disseminate new clinical tools on up to five clinical topic areas, determined by providers, through the Knowledge Translation in Primary Care Initative, in collaboration with the Ontario College of Family Physicians and the Nurse Practitioners’ Association of Ontario.
Engagement with primary care providers is a major component of our tool development approach since it helps us understand their clinical practice needs. Our Needs Assessment Surveys are used to determine clinical topic areas most important to providers. With these short surveys, providers can further voice their opinions and help influence our work.
