Adaptive Mentoring Toolkit

Introduction

This Implementation toolkit was developed as part of a project funded by Health Canada’s Substance Use and Addictions Program* grant.  The Adaptive Mentoring to Build Primary Care Capacity: Caring for Canadians Living with Mental Illness, Chronic Pain and Addictions project aims to enhance primary care capacity to support Canadians living with addictions, mental illness, and chronic pain by building Adaptive Mentoring Networks in New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, and British Columbia. These networks, developed through a partnership between the Centre for Effective Practice, the Atlantic Mentorship Network-Nova Scotia, and Pain BC, connect primary care providers with experts in a safe, non-judgmental community for clinical mentoring. By improving provider expertise and confidence, the project addresses challenges in access to care, mitigates limited specialist availability, and relieves pressure on the healthcare system, ultimately improving patient outcomes. Adaptive Mentoring, successfully used in Ontario and Nova Scotia, offers flexible, tailored support through various formats and durations to meet evolving needs.
